Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Faisal bin Farhan, the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, held a telephone conversation during which they discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.

During the call, both sides emphasized the determination of Iran and Saudi Arabia to strengthen bilateral relations across all areas of mutual interest.

Araghchi outlined developments in Iran over the past two weeks, noting that events initially began with peaceful economic protests but escalated on January 8 and 9 following the organized involvement of terrorist elements linked to the Israeli regime, which led to violence.

He underscored the importance of global condemnation of foreign interference in the internal affairs of regional countries and stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran, relying on national support and public awareness, will firmly and decisively defend its sovereignty against any external threat.

The Iranian foreign minister also condemned the provocative and interventionist statements by US officials, emphasizing the responsibility of all regional countries to safeguard regional stability and security against destabilizing actions, including the expansionist policies of the Israeli regime.

For his part, the Saudi foreign minister expressed concern over the current situation in the region and the potential consequences of any escalation of tensions. He stressed the importance of utilizing diplomatic channels and strengthening regional cooperation to preserve stability and security.

Both sides further emphasized the necessity of continued consultations and joint efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
