Israeli elements attempting to create chaos in Iran: FM Araghchi

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that elements of the US and the Israeli regime are attempting to incite chaos in the Islamic country, but Iranian people will distance themselves from foreign-backed elements.

Speaking in a ceremony in Beirut on Friday to unveil the Arabic translation of his book named “The Power of Negotiations,” FM Araghchi said that the Iranian government has started negotiating with protesters and trying to tackle economic problems, but intervention by the US and the Israeli regime made the protest different from other ones, because the enemies attempt to turn the peaceful protest rallies into violent unrests.

According to Araghchi, American and Israeli officials have overtly expressed their intention to turn the protests in Iran into riots.

Answering a question by American daily The Washington Post, the foreign minister said that the protest rallies in Iran do not have anything to do with the US; therefore, Tehran does not need to engage in direct or indirect talks with Washington.

On indirect Iran-US negotiations in 2025, he said that the US involved in aggression against Iran in June amid the talks on nuclear issues when the Israeli regime and the US attacked it nuclear facilities; thus, Iran does not have any positive experience of negotiating with the US.

He also pointed out that the experience of the 12-day war imposed by the Israeli regime and the US on Iran showed that there is no need for negotiations in some occasions.

Iran learned the lesson that the US and the Israeli regime only understand the language of force, he said, noting that Tehran does not want to engage in any war, but it maintains its military readiness to prevent confrontation; of course, it is ready to start talks, but when the US understands there is a difference between negotiation and dictation.
