Iran warns against US threats, reaffirms full preparedness

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to deliver a decisive and regret-inducing response to any act of aggression, citing recent threats made by Donald Trump.

In a letter addressed to foreign ministers of various countries, Araghchi described the recent statements by the US president as a flagrant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, calling for their explicit and firm condemnation by the international community.

Referring to remarks made by the US president on December 29, 2025, Araghchi stressed that threats of the use of force against Iran constitute a clear breach of the UN Charter, which explicitly prohibits any threat or use of force against the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of states.

The Iranian foreign minister recalled the joint military aggression carried out by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran in June 2025, noting that the recent threats reflect Washington’s clear malicious intent to continue an unlawful and aggressive course of action, the consequences of which would rest solely with the United States.

Araghchi also pointed to the official admission by the US president regarding Washington’s direct role in the June 2025 attacks targeting Iranian civilians, critical infrastructure, and Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, describing these actions as blatant violations of international law that entail individual criminal responsibility for the relevant US officials.

In another part of the letter, Araghchi said that threatening a UN member state in support of the Israeli regime underscores a dangerous double standard and seriously undermines the non-proliferation regime. He emphasized that the United States’ unconditional support for the Israeli regime, described as the sole possessor of nuclear weapons in West Asia, has severely endangered regional and international security.

Warning against the serious consequences of silence in the face of such unlawful threats and actions, the Iranian foreign minister said the creation of an environment of impunity has emboldened the United States and the Israeli regime to continue their aggressive behavior, posing a direct threat to global peace and security.

At a joint press conference with Israeli regime's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on December 29, US President Donald Trump claimed that Washington is ready to engage in dialogue with Tehran but the option of using force remains on the table.

"I hope they're not trying to build up again, because if they are, we're going to have no choice but very quickly to eradicate that buildup," he stated at a joint press conference with Israeli regime's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

On June 13, 2025, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked aggression against Iran while Washington and Tehran were in a process of nuclear negotiations. The Israeli attack triggered a 12-day war that killed at least 1,064 people in the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians.

The United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of international law.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the Al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.

On June 24, Iran, through its successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the US, managed to impose a halt to the aggression.
