Mojtaba Shasti Karimi, director general for consular affairs at the Foreign Ministry, told reporters that the transfer was carried out through joint efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, with coordination from Iran’s embassy in Kuwait.
He said the move took place under a bilateral judicial cooperation agreement between the two countries.
Last year, Iran repatriated 36 nationals who had been serving sentences in Kuwait back to the country under the same framework.
