Araghchi, who landed in The Hague on Tuesday morning, will deliver a speech at the 30th Session of the Conference of the States Parties, to explain the positions and views of Iran on the agenda of the event.
He would also meet and hold talks on bilateral and international issues with his Dutch counterpart, David van Weel.
The annual meeting of the OPCW is held every year in The Hague to oversee the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention and reviews compliance with the treaty and promotes the Convention’s objectives.
Iran is one of the OPCW members that was the victim of chemical weapons during the 1980s war imposed by former Iraqi ruler Saddam Hussein. Tens of thousands of Iranians were exposed to such weapons, with many suffering from long-term respiratory, ocular, and skin damage.
