On the second and final day of the wushu competition, five Iranian sanda athletes contested in the finals, winning four gold and one silver.
In the female’s 56 kg category, Sara Shafiei faced Egypt’s Shad Abdel Sadeq in the final and defeated her in the first round to win the gold medal. It was Shafiei’s first international appearance.
In the 60 kg category, Soheila Mansourian, who reached the final after defeating her Tunisian rival, came over Habiba Abouomar of Egypt to win the gold.
In the men’s 60 kg category, Amirhossein Hemmati, who had defeated Berkay Ozan of Turkey, Habib Mohammad of Sudan and Kanybek uulu Dastan of Kyrgyzstan, faced Youssef of Egypt and won the gold medal.
In the 70 kg men’s category, world champion Erfan Moharrami faced Abror Hakimov of Kyrgyzstan in the final and showed a beautiful performance to win the gold.
Farbod Taleshi, in the 85 kg category, lost the next two rounds to Alhussein Wahdan from Egypt, despite winning the first round, and won the silver medal.
In the 70 kg women’s sanda category, Shahrbanou Mansourian, the holder of 6 world gold medals, won the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Iranian taekwondo athletes also showed spectacular performances on the second night of their efforts at the Islamic Games.
In the -60 kg category, Ali Asghar Ali Moradian won the gold after defeating Mohsen Rezaee of Afghanistan.
In the -51 kg women category, Rojan Goodarzi, easily defeated her rival from Kyrgyzstan in the first round but lost to Elif Akgul of Turkey in a critical match to advance to the rankings. She won the bronze medal after defeating the Uzbek contestant.
In the -70 kg category, Yalda Valinejad reached the final after defeating her Turkish and Nigerian rivals but surrendered to Uzuda Sobirnova of Uzbekistan nd won the silver medal.
In the -82 kg men’scategory, Amir Reza Sadeghian lost to Haitam Zarhouti of Morocco in the final match, and settled for the silver medal.
