Avash News: Homayoun Ershadi, a celebrated Iranian actor known for his leading roles in several acclaimed films, including Abbas Kiarostami’s Taste of Cherry, died on Tuesday following a period of illness.
Originally an architect with a keen interest in cinema, Ershadi made his debut in Kiarostami’s renowned film Taste of Cherry. He played the role of a man contemplating suicide who meets another man, who tells him that he, too, once wanted to end his life but was moved by the sweetness of a berry, which led him to reconsider and reunite with his wife before she even woke up.
Ershadi was recognized for his distinctive presence and unique style of delivering dialogue, characterized by his warm, deliberate, and measured way of speaking.
