Iran wins gold at 2025 Para Jiu-Jitsu World Championships

Iranian Para Jiu-Jitsu athlete Mojtaba Akbarpour has won a gold medal at the 2025 Jiu-Jitsu World Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The competition brought together more than 200 athletes from 30 countries and was organized under the supervision of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation (JJIF), with support from international Paralympic organizations.

Representing Iran for the first time in this discipline, Akbarpour competed in the 85-kilogram category, defeating strong contenders from Russia and Brazil in two consecutive matches.

His victories secured Iran’s first-ever world gold medal in Para Jiu-Jitsu.

In addition to Akbarpour’s gold, Iranian competitors achieved further success in the Masters (Adult) division.

Iman Aghapour and Ali Araghi Jooybari each won bronze medals, boosting Iran’s standing in the overall medal table.
