General Mahdi, who is heading a high-ranking delegation to Tehran, made the remarks during his visit to the Command and Staff University of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, known as DAFOOS in Persian, on Monday.
He said the relations between the two friendly and neighboring countries are historical that have increased in a favorable way in recent years and would keep developing further.
He also expressed happiness that Iraqi officers have been studying and graduating from the Command and Staff University of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, saying that Iraq preferred them to study in Iran because of good courses available at this university, especially the course on the highest level of operational training.
General Mahdi and the accompanying delegation visited the training classes, maneuvering center, war school, military museum, library, and Persian language classes at the DAFOOS.
Commander of the DAFOOS, Brigadier General Hossein Valivand-Zamani, while welcoming his Iraqi counterpart, said that the relations between the two countries, in the military field, are steadily developing and that the Islamic Republic is eager to have Iraqi students attend the new academic year at the DAFOOS.
Emphasizing that Iran-Iraq relations are unbreakable, he expressed hope that both countries will move forward successfully and proudly along the path of synergy and the pursuit of their lofty goals.
