Unveiling the Truth Behind a Tragedy Called the Gaza Foundation

From November 2024 to October 2025, the so-called “Gaza Foundation” turned into an instrument for the militarization of humanitarian aid. Now, with Israel’s withdrawal and the evacuation of its deadly centers, a new horizon has emerged.

Nournews: From the darkness of November 2024, the allegedly “humanitarian” Gaza Foundation—as described by activists and observers—cast a black veil over the face of international aid. Established ostensibly to deliver food and medicine to the besieged people of Gaza, the foundation in practice became a mechanism for the occupiers to control and militarize humanitarian assistance.

Throughout this period, its distribution centers—dubbed “death traps” by Gazans—turned into scenes of desperate and bloody gatherings. Those who approached them often did so not in search of bread, but on a journey that too often ended in martyrdom or injury.

On the night of October 9, 2025,  on the eve of the first stage of the ceasefire agreement and the withdrawal of Israeli forces, an order was issued: all Gaza Foundation distribution centers in the southern Strip were to be dismantled. What remains today are hollow ruins—staring back in silence and disbelief at the people of Gaza. With this withdrawal, a dark chapter in the history of humanitarian assistance has closed.

The foundation no longer plays any role in direct aid distribution; responsibility for relief operations has been transferred to international agencies such as UNRWA.

Meanwhile, despite claims of massive quantities of distributed aid packages, many have questioned how such an entity managed to gain control over food supplies for more than two million people. During its operations, reports revealed that hundreds were shot dead while trying to reach these “trap centers”; some sources estimate that the number of victims exceeded one thousand.

Supporters of the foundation sought to portray it as an official replacement for international relief organizations, but during peace negotiations, Palestinian representatives and mediators explicitly rejected its continuation.

Today, as Gazans gaze upon the remnants of those centers, one question resonates in many minds: How did the international community allow an institution bearing the label of “humanitarian” to become a tool of death?

In this moment, the meaning of “the end of a dark era” lies not merely in the closure of the centers, but in the exposure of their true nature and role.
