Speaking to reporters on Monday, Pejmanfar said the meeting, which was also attended by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, reviewed the Foreign Ministry’s reports on several key issues: the Zangezur Corridor, the issues concerning foreign nationals, the report on measures taken regarding the Iran’s sovereignty over the three islands, and the report on the latest status of relations with China and Russia.

On the Zangezur Corridor, he said Iran shares a border with Armenia, and the lawmakers have discussed  the economic activities and trade exchanges the South Caucasus states.

There is misinformation and false claims by certain Arab and European countries regarding the three islands, he stated.

Commenting on Iran’s relations with China and Russia, Pejmanfar said these two countries have always had good relations with Iran, citing Russia’s support during the 12-day war. Pejmanfar described the 25-year agreement with China as the result of the efforts made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the government to develop stable relations with China.

Earlier, on October 8, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf strongly condemned a joint statement issued by the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union challenging Iran’s sovereignty over three Persian Gulf islands, warning that Tehran would not tolerate any foreign interference or false claims.

Ghalibaf affirmed that Iran’s territorial integrity “has been sealed and safeguarded by the blood of hundreds of thousands of this nation’s brave youths,” and stressed that the Iranian people “will not show the slightest leniency toward any delusional party” regarding the country’s sovereignty.
