The US and the E3 perpetuate the myth that Iran should not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons or that they want diplomacy to prevent that, Iran’s embassy in Japan wrote on its X account on Saturday.

The embassy described the measure as utter deception and hypocrisy.

Iran has consistently said that weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), including nuclear weapons, are forbidden for religious and humanitarian reasons, have no place in its defense doctrine, and that it supports a world and West Asia free of nuclear weapons, added the embassy.

“Upon [signing] the JCPOA in 2015, Iran was deemed by 15 IAEA reports to be the most compliant party regarding its peaceful nuclear program. One does not submit to the most intrusive IAEA inspections ever and seek healthy interactions with the IAEA afterwards if one is pursuing nuclear weapons,” it noted.

The embassy also said that “the US’s support for Israeli aggression and its own attacks on Iran’s IAEA-safeguarded nuclear sites during Iran-US negotiations—maliciously supported by the E3—were blatant attempts to betray diplomacy.”

To claim a desire for diplomacy under championing the so-called snapback is a coercive tactic masquerading as dialogue, the embassy said.

“Neither military action, the snapback, nor any other form of coercion will deter Iran from upholding its national interests and pursuing diplomacy based on mutual respect and benefit,” it added.
