On Tuesday evening, President Pezeshkian received the credentials of the new Swiss Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran Olivier Bangerter. During the ceremony, the president emphasized that Iran remains committed to stability, peace, and security in the West Asia region.
Emphasizing the importance of expanding interactions and strengthening joint cooperation, the president also acknowledged Switzerland's historical role as a communication channel between Tehran and Washington since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, urging Ambassador Bangerter to convey to American officials that Iran has never sought nuclear weapons, adhering instead to its fundamental principles and policies.
Pezeshkian praised Switzerland's constructive, neutral, and balanced position among European countries, particularly in international disputes.
He expressed gratitude for Switzerland's cooperation, especially in the pharmaceutical and food sectors, amidst the challenges posed by unjust sanctions and misguided policies from the United States and certain European states.
The Iranian president also condemned the actions of the Israeli regime against the oppressed people of Gaza, stating that such behaviors are the primary cause of instability in the area and are neither humane nor legal.
In response, Ambassador Bangerter expressed his delight in beginning his mission in Iran and outlined his key objectives, which include enhancing bilateral relations and reinforcing Switzerland's role as a reliable communication channel between Tehran and Washington.
The ambassador assured that he would spare no effort in achieving these goals while also aiming to reflect the culture, history, and hospitality of the Iranian people.
