Iran's FM holds meeting with senior lawmakers

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with the chairman and members of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission to discuss the latest developments in Iran’s foreign policy and diplomatic initiatives.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Araghchi briefed lawmakers on the most recent developments in Iran’s foreign policy and outlined the Foreign Ministry’s initiatives to safeguard the country’s national interests.

During the session, the top Iranian diplomat reviewed the ministry’s activities over the past year, including progress in the nuclear domain, strengthening ties with neighboring states, expanding South-South cooperation, utilizing the potential of multilateral organizations such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), active diplomacy against the Zionist regime’s war and genocide, as well as supporting Iranian nationals abroad and promoting economic diplomacy.

Araghchi also briefed the lawmakers on President Pezeshkian’s recent visit to New York during which he attended the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He presented a report on his meetings and talks on the sidelines of the UNGA, as well as Iran’s latest diplomatic efforts to counter the destructive approach of the three European countries and the United States in misusing the snapback mechanism to restore the terminated UN Security Council resolutions related to Iran’s nuclear issue.

The foreign minister reaffirmed that the Foreign Ministry will continue its efforts to protect the Iranian nation’s legitimate rights to benefit from peaceful nuclear energy through consultation and coordination with like-minded countries.
