“Unable to bring Iran to its knees thru 6 yrs of JCPOA violation & 12 days of war, E3 abused the UNSC to illegally restore terminated resolutions,” Zarif wrote on his X account on Sunday.
“This won’t give E3 a better bargaining position. It only eliminates any role for them in diplomacy with Iran,” he added.
On Saturday, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi acknowledged that potential reimposition of UN sanctions could cause economic harm but stressed it was overblown by the West.
“They tried to make a monster out of snapback to frighten the Iranian people and force the government and foreign policy apparatus to give concessions and retreat,” he said.
The foreign minister pointed to intensive diplomatic efforts with Russia, China, and other UN members to block the move.
He said Tehran had submitted multiple letters to the UN Security Council and even sent a joint letter with Moscow and Beijing opposing the action.
“We pursued intensive diplomacy with all countries in recent days,” he noted.
