The decisive moment came on Monday night when Amirhossein Firouzpour secured a bronze medal in the 92kg category. The freestyle wrestler from Iran’s northern province of Mazandaran defeated Kazakhstan’s Kamil Kurugliev 4–0, sealing Iran’s overall victory. Firouzpour already defeated Batyrbek Tsakulov of Slovakia 7–2 in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals.
Firouzpour’s bronze was the team’s seventh medal in Zagreb, following one gold, three silvers, and two other bronzes. This latest achievement marks Iran’s sixth world title since the country’s first championship win in 1961. The 2025 championships run from September 13–21.
