Revelation by 100 Prominent International Economists: U.S. Statistics Are Not Reliable!

NOURNEWS – The latest Reuters survey of 100 leading economists, including several Nobel Prize winners, shows growing concern over the accuracy and credibility of U.S. economic data amid declining resources and staff in statistical agencies.

According to the Reuters survey, conducted between July 11 and 24, 2025, among 100 economists active in the United States, 89% expressed concern about the falling quality of official U.S. economic data. Of these, 41% described their concern as “serious” and 48% as “moderate.” Only 11% of respondents said they were not worried about the quality of the data.

At the same time, 82% of economists said the U.S. government has not addressed the issue of statistical accuracy with sufficient urgency, while only 18% evaluated the response positively. In addition, 70% of respondents stressed that government agencies lack the financial and human resources to collect and publish high-quality economic data.

Experts have warned that if this trend continues, it could disrupt U.S. economic policymaking and erode the confidence of both domestic and foreign investors. They noted that declining accuracy in economic statistics would not only affect the decisions of fiscal and monetary policymakers, but could also have negative repercussions for capital markets and U.S. macroeconomic stability.
