Araghchi: We do not back down from Iranians’ nuclear rights

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has said that he thought it was vital — after the recent war — that they [the Western nations] be informed that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s stance was still firm and strong, and that enrichment would continue. “We will not back down on our people’s rights,” he said.

Iran’s senior official said the world should know that Iran’s stance has not changed and that “we will strongly and firmly defend Iranians’ rights to peaceful nuclear energy, in particular, enrichment.”

On Thursday, July 24, Iran’s Foreign Minister spoke about the meeting between Iranian and European senior diplomats, which will be held on July 25 in Istanbul, Turkey. He said: “After the recent war, I think it was vital they certainly know that Iran’s position is still strong and firm, and enrichment will continue, and we will not let go of the people’s rights.”

He continued: “Of course, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been prepared to progress its peaceful nuclear program within a logical and wise framework.”

“We never fall short in attracting the trust of concerned countries. In turn, the Islamic Republic of Iran has demands for its right to use peaceful nuclear energy, including enrichment, to be respected.”

The minister said that “Tomorrow’s talks are a continuation of the previous talks, and our position is clear.” He said that the world should know Iran’s position has not changed, and that we are still firm and strong in defending our people’s rights in applying peaceful nuclear energy. “We will particularly defend our right to enrich uranium.”
