Massive funeral for the ‘Martyrs of Authority’ demonstrates national unity: Foreign Ministry

The Foreign Ministry has hailed an extraordinary outpouring of grief and defiance as hundreds of thousands hit the streets to bid farewell to 600 people who lost their lives during the recent Israeli attacks on Tehran.

In a statement posted on its X platform on Saturday, the ministry said that “the funeral was not just a farewell ceremony but a demonstration of the national unity in response to terror.”

It recalled that the Iranian nation had emerged victorious whenever it was challenged on the path of independence, freedom, and dignity.

According to the statement, Iranians with a passionate and meaningful presence, on a day tied to the memory of Ashura, bade farewell and buried men, women, and children who were martyred during the war imposed by the Zionist regime and the United States.

This steadfast presence, the message said, is not only a sign of the people's loyalty to their homeland, but also conveyed a clear message to the world that “Iranians turn threats into unity, and war into an opportunity to realize a national will.”

The ministry paid homage to military commanders, personnel, scientists and civilians who were assassinated by the Israeli regime, and congratulated the families of the martyrs.

On June 13, the Israeli regime launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran, killing over 600 people, including top military commanders, scientists, and civilians.

The attacks prompted Iran to retaliate, with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (I.R.G.C.) launching 22 waves of missile strikes as part of the Operation True Promise III, inflicting a significant damage to the occupied territories.

On June 22, the United States joined Israel and in coordination with the regime attacked three Iranian nuclear sites, in violation of international law, prompting international condemnations.
