NOURNEWS- According to the Vice President of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization, one of the reasons for the decrease in export statistics of Iran to Africa is that a large volume of trade is not mentioned in trade statistics with the African continent; Because there is no regular shipping line or direct line with these countries, and most of the exports are sent through countries such as Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey with a change of documents, and for this reason, Iran is not considered as a country of origin, and according to the statistics, it is not a destination in Africa.
He continued and said: In the seven months of 2022, we exported about 650 million dollars of urea to the African continent; Because this continent has many imports in the field of products, and accordingly, 70% of Iran's official export to Africa is urea.
On the one hand, the world prices of urea decreased between 30 and 50% in 2023, and on the other hand, African countries have received urea from some countries as gifts or at low prices in order to get a larger share of the market for this product in this continent. Accordingly, with a decrease of 250% in the seven months of this year, the export of urea reached 210 million dollars in terms of weight and value with a decrease of 250% in the seven months of this year.
This process causes the real statistics to be different from the official numbers; Because in the customs statistics, the exact amount of goods sent to Africa from Iran's borders is recorded directly.
Iran has many different exports in the field of services that are not calculated in the statistics, while it had a 70% growth in the export of services to Africa in the 13th government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is not mentioned in the statistics; But it is considered an important export.
Contracts and agreements for exchanges with this continent do not have short-term effects. Setting up production lines such as the SAIPA agreement in Kenya, the Iran Khodro agreement in Senegal, the contract for joint projects of metro lines, mass housing for 15,000 residential units, the production line of vaccines and medical equipment are projects with long-term effects and cannot be seen in short-term statistics.
