NOURNEWS- Iran’s oil minister says the oil industry can play a key role in promoting the mutual economic interests of Iran and Saudi Arabia.
During a ceremony on Saudi National Day in Tehran, Javad Owji congratulated the Saudi people and government as well as the kingdom’s ambassador to Iran, Abdullah bin Saud al-Anzi, on their national day, the IRNA reported on Wednesday.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are two great regional powers whose cooperation will be impactful in expanding security, economic prosperity and cultural and social prosperity of the Islamic world and shaping international interactions and the energy [market],” Owji said.
“In this way, the oil industry can play a pivotal role in advancing the mutual economic interests of both nations,” he added.
The Iranian minister further noted that Iran and Saudi Arabia, as two of the five founding members of the OPEC organization, have worked together continuously for more than 63 years through many ups and downs in order to stabilize the oil market along with other members of the organization.
“Such level of cooperation is unique in today’s world,” he stated.
Describing the Tehran-Riyadh relations as growing in a positive trend, Owji said various capacities of cooperation are becoming visible to the authorities of the two countries.
