Why did the West drag negotiations to the media?

The current situation indicates that the negotiations are approaching the stage of a final agreement, but due to the lack of agreement on some very important issues that fall within Iran's red lines, it can be said with confidence that there is still a long way to go to reach a final agreement.

NOURNEWS - In recent days, while the Vienna talks are going through very difficult and complicated moments, Western officials and diplomats are trying to bring the talks to the media by publishing some unilateral Fact sheets in the media

The Fact sheets published in the major Western media over the past few days, including Reuters and The Wall Street Journal, as well as allegations of what happened inside the negotiating room by some Western officials and even Zionists, are evidence of this claim.

This is done in a situation where there is no issue that needs to be negotiated and the completion of the talks depends on the political decision of the Western negotiating side.

The West, especially the United States, due to the lack of will to take steps to remove obstacles to the agreement, seeks, using tools other than negotiations, to influence Iranian public opinion by presenting its own guiding vision of the agreement. Which puts psychological pressure on Iranian negotiators and decision-making institutions in the country to follow an approach that achieves minimal benefits for Iran

Another goal of this tactic is to reduce the pressure on the United States and the Western side present in the P4 + 1, which due to incompetence and inaction, has practically slowed down the negotiation process and they do not have the necessary will to make a political decision to reach an agreement.

The media reports published by the Western side these days center around two main points: "the agreement is imminent" and "time is limited." These two main points clearly indicate to the public that the West, especially the United States, is fully prepared to reach an agreement, but it is the Iranian side that, despite the time constraints, is not ready to complete the negotiations and agree to the agreement.

The scenario, which unfortunately uses some elements of the domestic media as well as foreign actors, has made such progress that even when the head of the negotiating body, the Secretary of the Supreme Council for National Security, tries to publicize the real situation in the Vienna negotiations, the impact of his words is minimized by Media attacks, to keep public opinion in the perceptual space created by Western media.

An important point in this regard, The Americans are instilling in the public opinion inside Iran that direct negotiation can solve the remaining problems in the negotiations and increase the speed of reaching an agreement, while all the knots that can be opened through negotiation are almost open and this is a political decision by the United States that can resolve the remaining important contract.

More precisely, reaching an agreement requires only the will of the White House to make political decisions, and not negotiate in the media. The Vienna talks reached a critical stage as most of the differences could be said to have been resolved through negotiations.

It can be said that we are still far from reaching a final agreement, although the conditions indicate that a final agreement is near. However, the lack of agreement on important issues that fall within Iran’s red lines makes it impossible to reach a final agreement soon.

In the case that the West continues psychological and political pressure on Iran and is satisfied with the consensus that has occurred so far without understanding that the remaining issues are sensitive to Iran, the West should not expect Iran to retreat from its red lines in a way that does not preserve the Iranian interests expected from the agreement.
