NOURNEWS – The top three countries in the world with gas reserves, Russia, Iran, and Qatar, together own 56% of the world's gas reserves. Now, if the three countries, in a strategic agreement, reach a consensus on the macro policies of the global gas market, they will be instrumental in guiding the world's energy future. This event is taking place in the context of the Sixth Summit of the World Gas Exporting Countries (GECF).
Today, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, is paying a two-day visit to Doha at the official invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. During this visit, which will be accompanied by the Iranian Minister of Oil, in addition to official meetings and talks between the Iranian team and officials of the host country, meetings will be held with Russian and Qatari officials on the sidelines of the Forum Summit. And the consensus of the first three countries with the largest gas reserves on gas production and distribution strategies, could be a turning point in the global energy market trend.
The consensus of the world's three largest owners of gas reserves becomes doubly important when we consider that gas will be the world's main energy resource for at least the next 20 years. It is estimated that the global demand for gas will not decline in the next 25 to 30 years and we will witness an annual and continuous increase in the global demand for gas because it is a clean fuel (low carbon).
According to the forecasts of the world's considered energy centers, natural gas will have the highest growth in fossil fuel consumption by 2035 and will take second place after oil in terms of consumption; that is why many experts call the current century the age of gas
Majid Chegeni, Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company, said: “For now, the future of the world is with the gas industry; although renewable energy is one of the options, in the medium term, gas plays a leading role in the world’s energy supply.
