Iran, Iraq FMs meet on sidelines of Munich Security Conference

Amirabdollahian met with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein as he continued his meetings with the top diplomats participating in the 58th Munich Security Conference.

NOURNEWS - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met and held talks with his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, on Saturday.

Amirabdollahian met with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein as he continued his meetings with the top diplomats participating in the 58th Munich Security Conference.

The two sides discussed bilateral issues and the latest regional and international developments.

Referring to the historical, religious, and geographical ties between the two states, Amirabdollahian described the relations between Baghdad and Tehran as satisfying and emphasized the further strengthening of relations in all areas. 

Pointing to Iraq's constructive role in the region, he thanked Iraq's role in bringing regional countries' views closer and its continued efforts to build regional talk.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the cases of common interest and the most important between the two states, regional and international developments, as well as negotiations currently underway in Vienna on the nuclear deal and diplomatic efforts to make the talks a success.

Referring to his country's efforts to establish direct talks among regional countries and bring their views closer together, as well as to strengthen friendly relations between them, Fuad Hussein expressed Iraq's readiness for helping regional states and working with them to achieve regional stability and progress.
