Acting Afghan FM and Iranian FM discussed bilateral ties

The Iranian foreign minister referred to Taliban leaders’ positive comments on the need to establish an all-encompassing government in Afghanistan, stressing that acceptable indicators are needed to confirm that

NOURNEWS – Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Amir Khan Muttaqi and his accompanying delegation on Sunday evening met and conferred with Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian.

Amirabdollahian said in the meeting that history proves that the ties between the Iranian and Afghan nations are of relatives’ type.

“The combats of the brave Afghan nation have shown that no foreign power can occupy Afghanistan and rule there,” he added.

The Iranian foreign minister referred to Taliban leaders’ positive comments on the need to establish an all-encompassing government in Afghanistan, stressing that acceptable indicators are needed to confirm that.

Amirabdollahian referred to Iran’s humanitarian aids forwarded continually for the oppressed Afghan nation, reiterating that Iran will also collect more aid from the regional countries to forward to Afghanistan to ease a part of the problems of the Afghan nation.

The Iranian top diplomat also referred to the wrong policies of the US and its allies during the past 20 years in Afghanistan and condemned them, as they have led to disputes between Afghanistan and its neighbors, which is one of the US objectives in the region.

“The blocked assets of Afghanistan by America, too, should be used for humanitarian purposes and improvement of the living conditions in Afghanistan,” he added.

He also commemorated the martyred Iranian diplomats in Mazar-i-Sharif and reminded the ruling authorities in Afghanistan of their responsibility to safeguard the diplomatic centers in that country.

The Afghan delegation, too, presented a report on the process of campaign against ISIS, and the new government’s efforts aimed at uprooting the production and smuggling of narcotic drugs.

The acting Afghan foreign minister, for his part, while appreciating the hospitality of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the Afghan refugees during the past 43 years, referred to the commonalties of the two nations.
