Why Iran is not negotiating with the United States?

With the illegal withdrawal of the United States from JCPOA, the only negotiable axis between Iran and the United States as a P5 + 1 member has lost its relevance.

NOURNEWS - As the eighth round of Vienna talks between Iran and the P4 + 1 continues, a large-scale media psychological operation against the Iranian negotiators continues.

In one case, the Western media and some domestic media activists in recent days have put on the agenda a widespread atmosphere based on the lie of "negotiating the Russian representative in Vienna with the United States instead of Iran."

This move, which is followed by the misinterpretation of the bilateral or multilateral meetings of the P4+1 delegations with the US representative, pursues two overt and covert goals in order to strengthen the US position in the negotiations:

The obvious goal in creating a recent media atmosphere is to instill the unrealistic statement that Russia is representing Iran in the Vienna talks and is leading the Iranian negotiating team.

In addition, behind the scenes of such developments is the pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran to have a direct dialogue with the United States, which is always pursued by the American side.

On the one hand, these measures are aimed at creating a rift between Iran and "Russia and China", which have relatively coordinated positions in the negotiations, and weakening the Western side of the talks, and on the other hand, a deliberate attempt to sensitize domestic public opinion to Iran's disengagement from Moscow and Beijing.

Not mentioning the meetings between the European troika and the EU representative with the US envoy to Vienna, and the magnification of the Russian representative's meetings with Robert Mali and linking it to the transfer of the Iranian delegation's messages to the US representative by Ulyanov show that this media flow is designed and implemented in a completely purposeful way.

The point is that; In the negotiations that began in 2013 and led to the signing of the JCPOA agreement, Iran negotiated with the P4+1 group, of which the United States was a member, and then in the meetings of the JCPOA Joint Commission, the United States as a member of this agreement can discussed the issues in the presence of all members.

On May 7, 2016, however, the United States officially withdrew from JCPOA, and after that, while returning the suspended sanctions in JCPOA, it also imposed new sanctions against the Iranian nation.

The only context in which joint meetings were held with Iran, the United States, and other parties to the IAEA and discussed how to fulfill the obligations of the parties was the IAEA Joint Commission meetings.

After Biden came to power and announced the US government's intention to return to JCPOA, Iran officially stated that the presence or absence of the United States in JCPOA  is of no value in itself and that the United States must first fulfill its obligations in JCPOA by lifting sanctions and then the return of this country to JCPOA will be decided.

From the point of view of protecting the rights and credibility of other members of JCPOA, the illegal and insulting behavior of the United States in leaving the JCPOA should not be left unanswered, and therefore the US return to JCPOA.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always stated that it is committed to its obligations under JCPOA and has so far not taken any action outside the framework of this agreement.

Iran has stated since the beginning of the new round of talks in Vienna that its goal in the talks is to lift sanctions, but as in the past and if the United States complies with the conditions to return JCPOA, the talks will be held in the form of joint commission meetings with all members.
