Baghdad-Tehran enjoy active, vital ties

According to Amirabdollahian, Iran’s minister of road and urban development is going to visit Baghdad, Iraqi capital, next week, in order to discuss operation of Shalamcheh-Basra railroad as soon as possible. The project will help Iranian and Iraqi nationals travel more easily as well as facilitate transit of commodities, he added.

NOURNEWS – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has emphasized that Iraq-Iran relationship is intertwined, active and vital in all fields.

Iran’s top diplomat referred to a meeting and joint press conference with his Iraq counterpart Fuad Hussein in a memo on his Instagram account on Thursday that the two sides held talks on consultations between the two countries.
According to Amirabdollahian, Iran’s minister of road and urban development is going to visit Baghdad, Iraqi capital, next week, in order to discuss operation of Shalamcheh-Basra railroad as soon as possible. The project will help Iranian and Iraqi nationals travel more easily as well as facilitate transit of commodities, he added.
Iran’s FM also said that the two officials discussed public visa free option, noting that the Islamic Republic is ready to finalize public and flight visa free contract. Iraqi foreign minister and his entourage are going to follow up the topic.
The two sides discussed developments in Afghanistan, fight against terrorism especially the Daesh terrorists in Iraq and Syria as well as latest situation of nuclear talks between Iran and the P4+1 group (Britain, France, Russia, China plus Germany) in Vienna, Austria, Amirabdollahian said.
As a result of efforts made by Iraqi prime minister and foreign affairs, Iranians and Saudis will hold next meeting in Baghdad, he said, expressing gratitude to Iraq’s assistance in resolving misunderstandings between Riyadh and Tehran as well as resuming ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Travel statistics between Iraq and Iran indicates extraordinary relationship between the two friendly countries, the Iranian FM said, adding that Baghdad and Tehran enjoy strategic ties at all levels.
