Where is the path of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA?

The imminence of Iran's negotiations with the P4+1 to lift the illegal sanctions is definitely a good opportunity for the IAEA to take a constructive approach and not be introduced as a negative component in this new process.

NOURNEWS -  Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, returned to Tehran on Tuesday, after only two and a half months of his previous visit in September, and this time, in addition to "Mohammad Eslami", he also met and talked with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
During the previous trip despite a joint statement agreed between him and Eslami, Grossi had made several statements against Iran and at the same time called for a return to Tehran. Iran's agreement with this trip shows Iran's serious determination to continue cooperated with IAEA.

During Grossi's intensive visit to Tehran yesterday, as Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, stated; Given the intensity of the trip, which took place on the eve of the Board of Governors meeting, Iran and the IAEA reached a general agreement on how to pursue issues of interest and agreed to continue their consultations to complete the framework and details of continued cooperation.

"Negotiations with Iranian officials were constructive, correct and professional, but we could not reach an agreement," Grossi told reporters in Vienna on Wednesday after the start of the IAEA Board of Governors meeting. "We have to reach an agreement and, we have to do that," he added.
The events in Tehran on Tuesday, according to Grossi, show that although Iran is upset with Grossi for some of his political and illegal positions, but has not allowed these to hurt Iran's continued cooperation with the IAEA.

According to this; The IAEA's clever use of Iran's goodwill and the provision of a suitable basis for reaching an agreement on the issues raised between the two sides can prevent the formation of a possible impasse in the relations between Iran and the IAEA.

On the other hand; Although a smooth and forward-looking relationship can lead to positive gains for both parties, the IAEA's creation of a political cost to Iran is certainly seen as a non-constructive response by Iran and cannot help advance bilateral relations.

Iran has always emphasized the IAEA's non-discriminatory approach to all members and has shown that it does not reflect the double standards that apply, mainly due to pressure and interference from other countries, in its relations with the IAEA.

According to this, the imminent arrival of Iran's negotiations with the P4+1 to lift the illegal sanctions is definitely a good opportunity for the IAEA to take a constructive approach and not be introduced as a negative component in this new process.

The content of the interview with the Director General of the IAEA this afternoon and the explanations given by Kamalvandi, the spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, regarding Grossi's talks with high-ranking Iranian officials yesterday, show that the two sides look at bilateral relations positively and forward.

It is to be expected that in the coming days new dimensions of the nature of the negotiations between Iran and the IAEA will be announced and assessments on the prospects of the two sides reaching an agreement on current issues will be more accurate.
