Re-testing Europe for an independent role in the nuclear negotiations

Europe's absolute obedience to the United States has shaken the inherent nature of the union, and the world sees Europe not as an independent actor but as a toy that merely endorses American views.

NOURNEWS - Ali Bagheri, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, met with Enrique Mora, EU Deputy Foreign Minister, during a visit to Brussels last week.

What was emphasized in these negotiations was not necessarily the resumption of negotiations or the return of the United States to the UN Security Council, but the need to take practical steps by the P4 + 1 to lift all sanctions.

The agenda of this meeting, according to the European record, expresses several basic principles:

First; The dishonesty of the Europeans and their insistence on the continuation of sanctions and playing in the puzzle of the maximum pressure of the United States, because the negative view of the international community towards Europe, and the world recognizes these countries as unreliable and indebted.

This negative global outlook has come at a high cost to Europe as Europe desperately needs economic communications to improve the economic crisis in which it finds itself.

Second; Europe's absolute obedience to the United States has shaken the inherent nature of the union, and the world sees Europe not as an independent actor but as a toy that merely endorses American views.

This view has become so pervasive that EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell has officially declared that Europe has lost its global identity and has been reduced to an issuer.

The bottom line is that the US and NATO, with their sudden and irresponsible withdrawal from Afghanistan, despite their deplorable and failed situation, on the one hand imposed heavy humiliation on Europe after 20 years of occupation and on the other hand sent a wave of Afghan refugees to Europe. Which entails heavy economic and security costs for these countries.

The US policy has been so costly for Europe that people like Borrell, French President Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have called for an independent European army instead of relying on US-led NATO.

All of these challenges pervade Europe as Iran offers them the opportunity to play a role in a new structure and in the form of global multilateralism, rather than paying the costs of US dependence.

Bagheri's emphasis on negotiating with the P4+1 and the lack of conditions for the US to return to the UN Security Council, as well as giving Europe authority in coordinating the talks and rejecting the US claim that Iran should receive answers to its questions from the US, is not only a sign of authority. And Tehran has independence in formulating domestic and foreign policy, which is an opportunity for Europe to get out of the quagmire of accompanying the White House.

Europe now has to choose between two options; either continue to obey the United States as a result of the continuing declining trend of a united Europe, or seize the opportunity that Tehran has created for it and take steps to reform its behavior and return to the age of multilateralism.

Lifting all anti-Iranian sanctions and taking practical action to make US sanctions ineffective, ending unconstructive positions and extravagances such as suspending nuclear activities, opening regional and missile issues in negotiations, compensating Iran for Western negligence, etc. preliminary steps to change it is the behavior of Europeans.

In this way; The stance of European troika leaders meeting with Joe Biden on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Italy on Iran and JCPOA will be a touchstone for weighing their claims.

With this negative record, Europe should know that the window of negotiation will not always be open, and the opportunity that Iran now presents to them will be eliminated as soon as possible if dishonesty continues, especially since Tehran relies on internal resources and regional and pragmatic diplomacy. It will take steps to achieve economic goals, and the West will not stand still.
