Iran offers $5,000 reward for best artistic, literary work on Prophet of Mercy Muhammad (PBUH): Works’ submission deadline extended

The aim of the organization of such event is to shed light on the uniqueness and originality of these creative genres and turn them into tools to defend the prophet of humanity and mercy, the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), highlighting his noble virtues and values.

NOURNEWS - Human civilization has significantly flourished with the arrival of prophet Muhammed (PBUH) and the spread of Islam as a religion of love, culture and creativity. In fact, the Islamic civilization portrayed a new world enclosed with wisdom and art. It has enriched humanity with the production of a wide range of works of art, including calligraphy, ceramics, metalwork, photography, to name a few, but also extends more widely to include literature, theatre, architecture and music.

The many followers of Islam are spread around the globe from traditional lands in the Middle East and parts of Africa to metropolitan European cities. This extremely varied group of people nevertheless shares a distinct and rich style of arts, architecture, poetry, epic literature, painting, calligraphy, illumination, architects and miniature.

Being under the influence of Islamic art, the world has learnt much about peculiarities, originality, and uniqueness of Islamic art, literature and culture that are not narrowed to spirituality as this Islamic heritage is not restricted to religious themes, but instead includes all of the art and literature of the rich and varied cultures of Islamic societies.

 Furthermore, the deployment of Islamic arts, literature, poems, especially those of Rumi and Hafez, has diminished a considerable imposition of the Western world on the global culture and serves as a power confronting intensive deployment of Western trends and ideologies.

Nowadays, the Islamic art is experiencing a new era with the emergence of modern genres, including graphics, digital art and photography.

To this end, World Congress "Muhammad (PBUH)” Prophet of Mercy, in the Mirror of Literature and Art", hosted by the Iranian city of culture and art, “SHIRAZ”, with the support of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, will be held in seven languages, namely; ​​Persian, English, Arabic, Turkish, German , French and Russian. The aim of the organization of such event is to shed light on the uniqueness and originality of these creative genres and turn them into tools to defend the prophet of humanity and mercy, the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), highlighting his noble virtues and values.

This event is open to all and no registration fee is required. It includes the following sections and sub-sections:

Art:

Painting, poster, digital art, photography, calligraphy, calligraphy painting, typography, Tazhib, short film, and clip.

Literary:

Poetry, short story, novel, and literary prose.

Best selected artwork among the art sections will be awarded US$5000, congress special medal, valuable local handicrafts, congress special statue, honorary diploma and selected artworks’ booklet.

Three top selected artists in national and international sections will be given valuable awards.

As such, all submitted works are needed to address the main themes of the congress. Participants are called to send their works after creating an account on the website (www.wcam.ir).

It is worth mentioning that the submission deadline has been extended till September, 03rd 2021corresponding to Muḥarram 25th, 1443.
