NOURNEWS - Yesterday's video conference session of the UN Security Council on Iran, aimed at consensus against our country and passing an anti-Iranian resolution to extend the Islamic Republic's arms embargo after October 18, was in direct opposition to China and Russia and European bilateral positions. It was a heavy defeat for the United States.
The failure of the Security Council meeting, which was seen by international analysts as another reason for Trump's isolation in the international arena and the rejection of US unilateralism by members of the Security Council, provoked strong reactions, following Brian Hook and Mike Pompeo to repeat their Iran Phobia theory.
In a note, Yonah Jeremy Bob, in the Zionist journal, Jerusalem Post criticized the outcome of the meeting, some of the notes read:
The war between the United States and Iran over the arms embargo, which ends in October, has two bigger dimensions. The first is nuclear weapons, and the second is the power which the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps can demonstrate in the region, not just weapons exchanges.
At Tuesday's Security Council meeting, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made several efforts to persuade members to extend Iran's arms embargo. The position of the various members of the Security Council at this meeting indicated their view on multidimensional issues between the United States and Iran.
If Israel sought the success of the US plan [against Iran] and hoped for some recent anti-Iranian actions by neutral international organizations, Tuesday night's Security Council meeting proved that this strategy has no chance of success.
"China and Russia did not just oppose the Pompeo plan. They unequivocally rejected the conclusion of the UN Secretary-General's Office ... While these findings were supposed to be the main pretext for extending Iran's arms embargo ... China and Russia also continued to criticize the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Russia and China have stated opposition to using force or imposing sanctions on Iran. In their view, all current tensions are the fault of the United States, which withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal in May 2018.
Germany, Britain and France have criticized the United States for withdrawing from the Security Council and for unilateral sanctions. They showed that their main priority is to maintain the path of agreement
Most importantly, most countries [present at the Security Council meeting] are reluctant to confront Iran over arms embargoes and are concerned that such a confrontation could undermine a more important priority called the nuclear deal.
They said the United States had no place to activate a mechanism to reinstate UN sanctions against Iran to put pressure on it to extend its arms embargo.
Even many traditional US allies agree with China, Russia, and Iran that in recent years Washington has acted as a bully against almost all international plans and agreements.
