NOURNEWS- According to sources, Lebanese representative to the United Nations Amal Modeli is seeking to change the mission of the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) in accordance with the US request and without informing the members of the delegation about this change.
The sources also said that a model is working to support Washington's request to change the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon.
In this regard, Modeli is trying to convince member states to support Washington's request.
The US government has been working in recent hours to persuade members of the Security Council to reconsider its mission to UNIFIL.
Earlier, Kelly Kraft, the US permanent representative to the United Nations, noted that Lebanon was going through an unprecedented crisis and that the UNIFIL mission needed to be renewed.
