NOURNEWS - Liz Truss, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, despite the clear warnings of the Chinese authorities, by visiting Taiwan Island, while making provocative statements against Beijing, called for the formation of an "Economic NATO" to confront China's influence in the world's economy.
After the visit of Nancy Pelosi, the former speaker of the US House of Representatives, this is the second time that a British or American politician has traveled to Taipei and openly declares the scheme of "strategic ambiguity" towards Taiwan.
The former British Prime Minister stated in Taipei; Free countries should commit themselves to a free Taiwan and be ready to support this island with consistent steps and actions.
There are important points regarding the recent positions of the Truss:
First; The trip of the senior member of the British Conservative Party is considered to be an expression of London's absolute solidarity with Washington and its interventionist policies in East Asia.
London has taken a closer guard against Beijing after the conclusion of the ACOS Treaty with Australia and the US, and beyond that, it has actively participated in other American adventures in the South China Sea, the Korean Peninsula, the Philippines, Taiwan, Tibet, and Hong Kong.
It seems that after French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Beijing and his clear opposition to America's costly approach in East Asia, the White House officials are trying to show London's absolute support to other members of NATO.
At the same time, Paris and Berlin consider many of the expenses caused by the erosion of the war in Ukraine to be due to the strategic insurgency of Washington and London.
Second; Liz Truss is a "symbol of failure" in Britain, and naturally, her trip to East Asia is not considered by public opinion as a "powerful politician".
Truss, who served as British Prime Minister for only 49 days in 2022 and worked as British Foreign Secretary a year before that, is the highest-ranking British politician to visit Taiwan since Margaret Thatcher the first female British Prime Minister.
However, the person whom holds the record for the shortest tenure as prime minister in her country and who ultimately became a symbol of the failure of his controversial economic reforms in less than two months, can no longer stand as a symbol of a powerful player in China's periphery and mark for the Asian powerhouse.
Third; "Future study of the developments in Taiwan" shows that Truss's trip to London is an example of occurrence a new tug-of-war between the members of NATO, which is also related to the current developments in East Asia.
This forced and inevitable tug-of-war definitely has no winner, but the main loser will definitely be NATO and its members!
The dangerous illusion of Liz Truss and the British authorities regarding the absolute modeling of the American foreign policy and security approach in East Asia may even cost London far more than the Tony Blair government following George Walker Bush in the US invasion against Iraq.
Of course, this warning has been explicitly addressed to the powerless and confused government of "Rishi Sunak" by many players!
