China opposes unilateral US sanctions

The Chinese Foreign Ministry described the ban on Russian oil imports to the United States as a unilateral and unconstructive action.
NOURNEWS - In response to the US action to ban oil imports from Russia, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the Beijing government firmly opposes unilateral sanctions because it does not bring peace and stability. China has previously described Western sanctions against Russia as unconstructive. Last Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping described the situation in Ukraine as worrying and called for maximum restraint on both sides. He also said that the priority at the moment is to prevent the situation from getting out of hand. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the actions of NATO and the United States have broken Russian-Ukrainian relations. Over the past week, Australia, the United States and the European Union have all called on China to mediate in resolving the crisis. The Beijing government says it respects Ukraine's territorial integrity, but Russia also has concerns that the West has ignored. Meanwhile, the US considered China's neutrality an unacceptable option for the West.
