Iran ready for full cancellation of visa requirements with Iraq

Amirabdollahian noted that on the eve of the second martyrdom anniversary of Iran’s General Qassem Soleimani in a US drone attack near Baghdad airport, the two countries agreed to cooperate within the framework of a joint judicial committee to pursue the case and give a boost to the next steps.

– Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Thursday that the Iranian side have prepared all the needed conditions for the full cancellation of visa requirements with Iraq.

Amirabdollahian made the remarks in a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein after a meeting in Tehran.  

The Iraqi foreign minister arrived in the Iranian capital at the head of a delegation earlier in the day.

During the press conference, Amirabdollahian said that the two sides have agreed for a next week visit to Iraq by Iranian Minister of Road and Urban Development. 

He also said that the two sides are determined for completion of Shalamcheh-Basra railway which he believed will help to transit of good between the two neighboring countries.

The Iranian foreign minister appreciated efforts made by the Iraqi government to help remove the misunderstanding between Iran and Saudi Arabia and help the two countries restore their normal relations. 

He said that Iran will attend a new round of negotiations with Riyadh on Friday.
