We Will Prevent the Expiration of Iran's Arms Embargo

US Secretary of State:

We Will Prevent the Expiration of Iran's Arms Embargo

Referring to the country's efforts to extend Iran's weapons, the US Secretary of State claimed that Iran had violated a number of its nuclear commitments signed under the JCPOA.

NOURNEWS - Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told the Podcast Daniel Pelka that Iran had violated a number of its nuclear commitments, which it had signed under the JCPOA.

He also announced that the campaign to increase pressure on Tehran would continue.

Mike Pompeo, while emphasizing the continuation of the US maximum pressure campaign against Iran, said that the United States has used other measures as deterrents against Iran.

He added: "We hope that the world will unite, and that the United Kingdom and other parties to the JCPOA must recognize the threat  of the expiration of Iran's arms embargo, which will take place in just a few months, the expiration of the arms embargo was a major challenge for JCPOA, which we will address."

The US Secretary of State stated that Washington had drawn up a plan to prevent Russia and China from exporting weapons to Iran after the end of the arms embargo in October this year.

"We want to extend the ban on arms sales to Iran, with the agreement of all parties present in 2231 Resolution. But if that doesn't happen, we will use our diplomatic power to stop [arms sales to Iran]."

Secretary of State's claims come as Washington violates JCPOA's withdrawal and is no longer a member of the JCPOA. Also, under the terms of the nuclear deal with Iran, Iran's arms embargo will be lifted this fall.
