Several ISIS prisoners escape from Kurdish-controlled prisons in northern Syria

Syria's official news agency reported that several ISIS prisoners had escaped from a Kurdish-controlled prison in al-Hasakah.

NOURNEWS- Syrian media reported on Sunday that seven members of the ISIS terrorist group had escaped from a Kurdish-controlled prison in northeastern Syria.

According to the official Syrian news agency, the prison is located in the city of Al-Hul, on the outskirts of al-Hasakah province.

According to the report, several other ISIS members also escaped from Al-Sina Prison in al-Hasakah in late March.

Earlier, Arab News reported, citing local sources, that a large-scale insurgency had been carried out by ISIS prisoners in Al-Sina prison in the US-backed Syrian Kurdish Forces (SDF).

It is estimated that more than 10,000 ISIS prisoners are being held at Al-Sina Prison in al-Hasakah. About 20 percent of these prisoners are foreign, mostly Western, ISIS members whose countries refuse to return them.

News of the escape of ISIS prisoners comes as some sources report reports that ISIS fighters have been transferred from Syria to Iraq with the help of US forces.

In recent weeks, some of the most active ISIS cells in Iraq have launched attacks on Iraqi troops in several different provinces, killing dozens of Iraqi soldiers and civilians.
