NOURNEWS - The United States is preparing to impose sanctions on a number of Chinese officials under the pretext of suppressing democracy in Hong Kong. Financial sanctions are said to be imposed on seven Chinese officials working in Hong Kong's communications bureau.
Meanwhile, the US State Department has issued a new trade guide warning domestic and foreign companies not to operate in Hong Kong due to the dire situation and the rules of the Chinese parliament.
At the same time, China saw the US move as interference in Hong Kong's internal affairs. According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijiang, Hong Kong is part of the country's territorial integrity and US interventionist efforts under any heading; it is unjustifiable.
The US sabotage is in response to the passing of the Hong Kong National Security Act by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, under which Beijing could prosecute and punish crimes related to separatism, subversion, terrorism and collusion with foreign powers.
