NOURNEWS - The economic and political crisis has plunged Lebanon into a civil war and an uncertain fate, in a thought-provoking move by France to announce that the European Union has agreed on a mechanism to impose sanctions on Lebanese officials by the end of July.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said after a meeting with EU foreign ministers in Brussels: "It was agreed to establish a legal framework for imposing sanctions by the end of this month and before the anniversary of the explosion in the port of Beirut."
The announced policy of sanctions against Lebanon, claiming pressure on Beirut to reach a solution to the political and economic crisis, is significant from several perspectives:
Nearly a year has passed since the bloody and suspicious explosion of the port of Beirut, and in this one year, France has presented several plans claiming to help resolve the Lebanese crisis, and even President Macron has traveled to Beirut.
Evidence shows that the French proposals did not work for Lebanon, but the Paris prescriptions exacerbated the economic and political crisis, as France made its promises conditional on Lebanon becoming a normal state, which meant Lebanon surrendering to the regime. Zionism and terrorism and the elimination of the resistance, which has faced opposition from the people and many Lebanese currents.
France has so far held several international meetings claiming to support Lebanon during which billions of dollars have been pledged to help Lebanon, but none of this aid has been implemented and the meetings have remained as slogans and memorabilia. France has never been responsible for why the financial promises of these meetings were not fulfilled, which is something to ponder.
- The world recognizes that the Lebanese crisis is rooted in foreign intervention rather than an internal one. The actions of the US ambassador in Beirut, the interventions of the UAE and Saudi Arabia and the United States have led to instability in Lebanon, while no action has been taken by those claiming to support Lebanon.
Despite the request of Lebanese officials to meet the needs of their country from countries such as Iran, Russia and China, Western countries have not allowed such a request to be fulfilled in Lebanon, which has been an important component in exacerbating the country's economic crisis.
Reports indicate that in a thought-provoking move by the United Nations, centered on the United Nations, they will not allow the return of more than one million Syrian refugees in Lebanon to their country, which has cost the Lebanese economy dearly.
According to this; it is clear that the imposition of EU sanctions on Lebanon is not aimed at resolving the country's political and economic crisis, but at further disintegration and the continuation of the crisis-ridden behavior of the Arab, Hebrew and Western coalition to avenge a country that surrenders to the compromise of the Arab's with the Zionist regime and has been a strong barrier against this terrorist regime and their supporters by being on the resistance front.
This behavior of the European Union shows that they continue to pursue the same crisis policy of the past in the region, and Lebanon today is the victim of the same policy that imposed the 33-day war in 2006 and the threat of terrorism to the country in 2011. Lebanon's defense - the triangle of the army, the people and the resistance - and the internal and external initiatives of Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah have so far prevented plans to surrender Lebanon to the sinister Arab, Hebrew and Western triangles.
