If the talks become a waste of time, we will stop them

The current negotiations are only about how to implement the obligations of JCPOA. Even JCPOA itself does not need to renegotiate because the negotiations have already been done and are over.

NOURNEWS - Sayed Abbas Araghchi, regarding last night's meeting in Vienna, said: "The meeting that took place was a continuation of the usual meetings of the Joint Commission, and we used this opportunity to open an opening regarding the problems that arose regarding JCPOA." Including the return of the United States to the JCPOA and the lifting of all sanctions, which Iran will subsequently return to its JCPOA commitments after verification.

Araghchi added: "The change that took place in this meeting can be said to be progress, but points in this regard should be considered, including:
The negotiations that we are conducting are only with the P4+1 countries, and we have no negotiations with the United States, even indirectly. The framework of the discussion will be determined by the P4+1, and then they will talk to the Americans about the issues raised.
It does not matter to us how well these countries talk to the Americans, and we have stated that we are only with the P4+1 side.
A member of the nuclear negotiating team continued: "For this purpose, we have set up two working groups, one is the sanctions working group and the other is the nuclear working group, which is supposed to determine the set of actions that the United States should take in the field of lifting sanctions." It will set out a set of steps that Iran must take to return to the JCPOA, and these issues will be discussed again in the Joint Commission.
The current talks are technical and legal, and the subject is how the United States and then Iran will implement JCPOA. These negotiations are not even about JCPOA itself, let alone the aftermath.
It does not matter on our part what the aspirations of our parties are regarding the future of the negotiations, and the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran is quite clear, and we will not have any talks on other issues. The current negotiations are only about how to fulfill the obligations of JCPOA. Even JCPOA itself does not need to renegotiate because the negotiations have already been done and are over.
The working groups will continue their activities until Friday, after which they will announce the results to the Joint Commission.
"If we see that the negotiating parties are looking to waste time or are pursuing other goals, we will stop the negotiations at the same level," he said. "It should be noted that in fulfilling our obligations, we are not discussing a step at all." We will not step. All the steps that need to be taken will be done in a step called "final state".
As for whether the Europeans can persuade the United States, we have to say that we have not given such a role to the Europeans, but we are negotiating with the P4+1 group, which also includes China and Russia. Whether they have the ability to do so or not, I do not know, and we have to see if they will be able to do so or not. If they succeed in this, we will return to our commitments after verification, and if they fail, the current situation will remain the same.
The Islamic Republic is not in a hurry in this regard.
