Mousavian: Sanctions Policy Sign of US' Weakness and Vulgarity

A former member of the nuclear negotiating team stressed that a superpower is real and successful if it can resolve crises and conflicts through diplomacy, while the United States has resorted to war and sanctions during its superpower, which is a sign of weakness, not power.

NOURNEWS - The International Alliance Against War and Sanctions, initiated by American peacekeepers, was attended by 1,000 people from all over the world, with a speech by Maddah Abbas, a senior Palestinian health official, and Mohamed Saleh Morshed of the Arab-Yemeni Arab Academic Union, Carlos Martinez The Deputy Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Ki Park, a professor at Harvard University from North Korea, and Seyed Hossein Mousavian, an Iranian professor at Princeton University.

Margaret Kimberly, director of the National Alliance Against War and Sanctions stated: "The United States has the largest army in the world, 800 military bases around the globe, and 1,000 people a year in the United States are killed by the police, US sanctions against others are unfair, and American injustice abroad is tantamount to injustice inside the United States."

She stated that American citizens, as the emperors of the world, have a duty to prevent American oppression and injustice in other parts of the world: "Iran and Venezuela recently faced US sanctions, and five Iranian oil tankers sailed to Venezuela. All countries must learn from this example and stand up to American coercion."

Iran has been subjected to most US sanctions in recent history

Seyed Hossein Mousaviyan also stressed at the meeting that Iran has been grappling with US sanctions for 40 years: "The number of US sanctions against Iran is higher than in all other countries, so Iran has been subjected to the most US sanctions in modern history."

During Saddam's eight-year invasion of Iran, I was in my country. Let me give you just one example to show you the depth of the American crime, Saddam used chemical weapons against Iran. According to the US Congress and the CIA, the United States provided Saddam with materials and technology. About 100,000 Iranians were killed or wounded. But the Iranians did not have the medicine to treat the chemical victims because of US sanctions. Even patients could not be sent abroad for treatment.

Trump's goal in sanctions is to change the regime

The former deputy head of the Supreme National Security Council continued: "Under Trump, the widest and worst sanctions in the history of the last 40 years have been imposed on Iran. So sanctions under Trump are different from previous ones."

Explaining the differences between Trump's sanctions against Iran and previous ones, Mousavian said: "We are in a time of global corona crisis, and the Iranian government and people are unable to provide medicine and equipment for Coronavirus patients due to sanctions. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has punished the Iranian people with the most extensive sanctions and with the aim of changing the regime, in order to lead the people to revolt and unrest against the government."

The United States has condemned Iran for implementing a UN resolution

The researcher of Princeton University in the United States, referring to the policy of maximum pressure, stated: "Trump's policy of maximum pressure began when Iran and world powers succeeded in resolving Iran's nuclear crisis through diplomacy, the UN Security Council passed a resolution, the International Atomic Energy Agency approved Iran, and Iran fully complied with its commitments. Function. In other words, the United States punished Iran for implementing the nuclear deal and the UN resolution.

Mousavian noted that the implementation of UN resolutions is binding on all member states: "Any country that wants to implement the Security Council resolution on the JCPOA will be subject to US sanctions and sanctions. This is the first time in UN history that member states will be sanctioned and punished if the UN resolution is implemented."

He added that the Trump administration has reduced Iran's oil exports to almost zero by threatening to impose sanctions on Iranian oil buyers. The main income of the Iranian government is from oil, which the United States has closed, and therefore the government is unable to meet the needs of the people and the country.

Iran has been more successful in curbing the Coronavirus crisis than the United States

The former member of the nuclear negotiating team said that many see the imposition of cross-border sanctions as a sign of US power : "I see sanctions policy as a sign of American weakness. A superpower and emperor is real and successful if it can resolve crises and differences through diplomacy, while the United States has resorted to war and sanctions during its superpower, a sign of weakness and not power."

Referring to US military intervention over the past two decades, Mousavian said: "The United States has been the creator of most wars in decades. The US invasion of Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Yemen is one of the war crimes. At the same time, the people of Iran stand united for the independence, identity and territorial integrity of their country against the US sanctions ."

He added: "Despite all the sanctions, the Iranian people and officials have been more successful in curbing the Corona crisis than the US superpower. The US population is about four times that of Iran, but Coronavirus' victims in the United States are about 10 times that of Iran."

The former Iranian ambassador to Germany said that the only solution was for the United States to stop coercing and imposing its policies: "The American people must put pressure on the White House to stop violating international law. Also, other countries and other world powers must prevent US unilateralism with multilateralism. An example is the recent cooperation between Iran and Venezuela, which was a successful experience, while the European Union has surrendered to US sanctions for four years, despite the establishment of the Instex mechanism."

Even hospitals and children are not immune to Israeli crimes

Pippa Yartoloti, another group leader at the webinar stated: "I went to Gaza and was arrested and imprisoned by the Israeli police for supporting the Palestinians, and I witnessed the culmination of Israel's brutality and cruelty against the Palestinians, Israeli army kills unarmed Palestinians and has no mercy."

Madhad Abbas, a senior Palestinian health official expressed" "When I was the head of the hospital in Gaza, I saw a child whose body had been split in two by Israeli bullets, and half of it had been brought to the hospital, he was killed by American weapons in the hands of the Israelis. The Palestinian people have been in this situation for decades, and the Israeli military is killing them."

He added: "We don't have freedom, electricity and water, and all our suffering is because of US support for Israel, I haven't been paid for six years. 80% of the people of Gaza live on food and financial aid. End the siege of the Palestinian people. There are two million besieged Palestinians in Gaza who are in fact in the world's largest prison."

Madad Abbas continued:"American drones are cold every day and we are waiting for death at any moment. Even hospitals and children are not immune to Israeli crimes. We ask the people of the world to help and save us."

Saudi Arabia seeks to destroy Yemen and Yemenis

Mohammad Saleh Murshid from Yemen also spoke at the webinar: "Saudi Arabia's aggression against Yemen with the support of the United States has had catastrophic consequences, Saudi Arabia seeks to destroy Yemen and Yemenis. Saudi Arabia has brought death, disease and hunger to Yemen. 200,000 Yemenis fall victim to Saudi aggression."

He expressed that we are able to solve the problems of Yemen if the Saudis stop interfering and the aggression: "US F-16, F-18 and F-32 fighters kill Yemenis every day. America has sent ballistic missiles to Saudi Arabia to use them against Yemen. Saudi Arabia is the mother of our problems and tragedies. Saudi Arabia itself is nothing, in fact, US support is backed by Saudi aggression.

He continued: "The United States is the cause of the Yemeni crisis and the worst human tragedy. We have been subjected to a brutal war that Saudi Arabia could not have committed without the support of the United States. Saudi Arabia is spending its oil on destroying Yemen."

The United States is using sanctions as a means of coercion

said Ki Park, a professor of health at Harvard University and a North Korean from the webinar stated: "US sanctions are deadly and destructive, I am a US citizen and not affiliated with the North Korean government."

She said: "Our research shows that 4,000 children in North Korea have been killed because of US sanctions. Sanctions are a barrier to North Korean doctors succeeding in their medical care. Due to financial and banking sanctions, no financial transfers are possible to meet medical needs. Sanctions have had a devastating effect on women."

A Harvard health professor said sanctions had prevented North Korea from importing 500,000 barrels of oil a year, while Australia, with a similar population, imported 500,000 barrels a day: "Most farmers in North Korea are women. North Korea's food and agricultural industries have been paralyzed by sanctions. Even the United Nations has to use shadow options for its own expense. The United States is using sanctions as a means of coercion."

The arrival of Iranian gasoline has revolutionized Venezuela's economy

Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Ronartmines also clarified in the webinar: "Venezuelans have been deprived of their basic human rights to food and medicine because of US sanctions. The arrival of Iranian tankers in Venezuela was very important in helping the people. Venezuela is the world's largest oil producer, plagued by US sanctions."

He noted that the United States has provided a significant portion of its oil and refinery resources to the opposition: "Iran and Venezuela have decided to stand up to the US criminal sanctions regime. The arrival of Iranian gasoline not only helped the people, but also boosted Venezuela's economy and allowed it to re-produce oil. Iranian oil tankers have thwarted a US coup in Venezuela. Iran helped us, and we will not give in to US coercion."

Nations under US sanctions cannot breathe

Leila Zand, an Iranian living in the United States, also spoke at the meeting: "I can't breathe" was George Floyd last sentence, the African-American that was killed by police. In fact, US sanctions have done the same to other nations, because nations under US sanctions cannot breathe. George Floyd's last sentence is the pain of all nations under sanctions.

At the end of the conversation, Flanders, director of the Alliance Against Sanctions, said: "The recent uprising of the American people against racism has taken over the entire United States. "I can't breathe" said George Floyd, a victim of police brutality. Hundreds of millions of people around the world are now unable to breathe because of US sanctions. The American people must unite and rise up against this oppression."
